BIOGRAPHY
Stephanie Braganza is a powerhouse vocalist who weaves a sonic tapestry that neatly blends elements of commercial pop, electro, and dance styles to create her exciting yet mainstream sound. Stephanie’s sexy style and playful performance helped her win the coveted 2012 Toronto Independent Music Award (TIMA) for Best Live Artist. She’s also performed at top festivals like Masala! Mehndi! Masti! Festival, 2012 DesiFest, Toronto Veggie Pride Parade; and such prestigious Toronto venues like The Mod Club, The El Mocambo, The Exhibition Center, The Orbit Room, Dundas Square, etc. She was the cover story for “Indo Portuguese Magazine” and Humber’s “Et Cetera” and has appeared on CITY TV/OMNI’s "V-Mix", Rogers TV’s "South Asian Focus", "TVOne Canada", "Daytime", with an upcoming appearance on the popular "Bollywood Blvd” TV show.
Stephanie has been performing and singing since the age of twelve. She was chosen for lead roles in the musicals Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat & Godspell. She has studied with great mentors such as Juno award winner Rik Emmett (Triumph), Pat LaBarbera, and Trish Colter. Her hard work earned her a Tuition Scholarship for the Vocal Program at Humber College where she graduated with a Bachelor of Music degree. Stephanie co-wrote her entire debut album, “Unexpected” with guitarist Colin Stewart, focusing on creating music with a message. Stephanie & Colin have added producer Peter Linseman (Sarina Paris, Chinese superstar Laure Shang) to the songwriting team and they’re busy writing and recording new material for upcoming single and album releases.
The first single from her new project, “2 Good 2 Be”, has earned a spot on an international compilation - Goa Chillout Zone Vol.5 which is sent to 11,000 radio, dance clubs and retail stores. “2 Good 2 Be” is slated for national single and video release late in 2012. Her track “Fantasy” reached #5 on BeatsDigital.com charts, which led Stephanie to sing with rap artist Belly and Ginuwine at the Muchmusic Video Awards.
