Donna Ferra's Biography
Donna Ferra is a high energy country artist with a sweet & soulful voice that you can feel. With a fresh upbeat sound, outgoing personality, and movie star looks she is determined to make a lot more noise in the country music scene. Donna Ferra is a Toronto based singer/songwriter who was raised in Thornbury, Ontario. She is the real deal…a small town girl with humble beginnings and unparalleled charm. Donna Ferra released 5 national singles from her debut album, "Waited Long Enough" (Music Mentor, 2003) and signed a National Distribution deal with Page/Koch. The title track "Waited Long Enough” featured guitar hero Jeff Healey and was added to 60 country radio stations across Canada.
Over 2004 & 2005 the album earned dozens of Canadian Country Music Association (CCMA) Top Ten contenders; including Rising Star, Album and Female Artist of the Year. Music Mentor Productions earned a CCMA Recording Studio of the Year Nomination. Donna was nominated for three Ontario Country Performers & Fans Association Awards as well.
In 2006, Donna released her sixth single, "It’s That Time of Year"; a Christmas release that was Nationally Tracked and promoted by Music Mentor Productions with over 40 stations spinning it. In 2007, Donna had a soft release of her sophomore album “Perfect Mess” named aptly after the wonderful mix of sounds on the album. After a short hiatus, which included living in Nashville for a year, Donna returned and is currently writing and recording her new album with a variety of edgy and traditional country styles. The first single, “Little Red Dress”, from the upcoming self-titled album was recorded last summer and released in the fall of 2011. The “Little Red Dress” video, directed by multi-award winning CMT director Adriana Maggs, was released early in 2012.
Donna has co-written songs with Juno Award winner Daryl Burgess (Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, Alanis Morrisette), Philip Douglas & Kenneth Duncan (2 of Nashville’s most sought after writers), Tim Taylor (multiple CCMA & SOCAN Songwriter of the Year Award winner), Shawn Christian (Roots Three Music), Maddy Slate (Carnival Music Publishing) and more. She co-wrote the title track & kick off single “High On Life” for BC artist Kristal Barrett and has landed cuts with Canadian artists Megan Morrison, Cristie Healey (Jeff Healey’s wife), Tara Sales and Jennifer Marino – also writing the kick off single "Why Me?". American country artist Morgan Stone has cut 4 of Donna's songs.
