Arlene Paculan is a serenading story teller. She creates soulful pop that is haunting, passionate, and invigorating. Her recent successful and highly anticipated album, "Everything Begins with Love” has been embraced by CBC Radio and she has been interviewed with producer, Sandy Mowat, on the popular show “Fresh Air”. Arlene has also been selected as a featured artist by Mark Rheaume (CBC National Music Director). Arlene has graced many stages across the GTA in hotspots including The Gladstone Hotel, Yonge & Dundas Square and Mississauga Celebration Square. In addition to her performances around the GTA, she has also performed in LA, Anaheim, Halifax, Ottawa, London, Kitchener, and Montreal. Arlene has been privileged to be part of the 2012 TD Toronto Jazz Festival as well as PRIDE Toronto. She has opened for Canadian songstress favourite, Jill Barber, as part of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebration and performed in this year’s Beaches International Jazz Street Fest. As a graduate of Randolph Academy for the Performing Arts in Toronto who has completed Grade 7 from the Royal Conservatory of Music, Arlene enriches cover songs and crafts distinctive original music that soothes, heartens and delights. Her debut EP album “I’m Worth It” was released in 2010 under the production team, Kuya Productions. Rob Rapiti from BLR Entertainment has described her voice as “haunting, yet passionate”. Who knew such a ‘beautiful, natural singing voice’ could come from such a shy little girl who used to whisper in conversation growing up? Before songwriting, Arlene has graced the stage as an actress, garnering the roles in such plays and musicals as Juliet (Romeo & Juliet), Nancy (Oliver), Rizzo (Grease), Laurey (Oklahoma), Kate (Shotgun Wedding), Puck (A Midsummer Night's Dream), Tiger Lily (Peter Pan), and Josie Pye (Anne of Green Gables). Arlene gives back to the music community by producing shows around Canada, including her ongoing series titled WonderFest with her company, Let’s Make Good Productions (LMG). WonderFest showcases and celebrates various styles of artists by providing Wonder Women and Super Men concerts, free workshops to encourage positive self-esteem, business planning for artists, and WonderKids: an introduction to songwriting. The aim of WonderFest is to spread empowerment through art and to boost confidence and creativity in imaginative individuals throughout the world. |
